Vibe – ‘Ritardando’

Emotional ballad group Vibe has released their 6th album ‘Ritardando’ on February 20, celebrating their 12th year.

In their surprise fan meeting on 19th, Vibe performed their title song Haeundae. Their 6th album shows their unique color better than any of their previous albums. Furthermore, they have made their album shine with collaboration with great fellow artists. Here are three notable songs:

<Song 1. Love comes and goes, just like the wave of Haeundae>

Track 2 (Title Song) Haeundae(Feat. Kang Min-Kyung of Davichi / Lyrics by Ryu Jae-Hyun and Choi Sung-Il, Song by Ryu Jae-Hyun)

‘Busan seagulls still greet me – please tell her… my story’

The title song ‘Haeundae.’ It makes you crave a shot of soju once you listen to it. Then I remembered – I’ve been to Haeundae twice with my friends… Personally, I think Kang Min-Kyun’s voice doesn’t find its place in the song.

In this good song, her dialect sounds a bit odd. If you’ve been to Haeundae, this song will remind you of the memories.

<Song 2. He’s someone’s love before a singer>

Track 4 My Love / Lyrics by Yoon Min-Soo, Min Yeon-Jae, Song by Yoon Min-Soo
‘The person I love has lose weight. She has become a mother. My Love’

Yoon Min-Soo with his sincerity.
Before he is a member of Vibe, he is the head of a family, a husband, a father. While he showed his love towards his son in the entertainment program ‘Daddy, Where are you going,’ he showed his gratitude and love towards his wife. It is a must listen – such a great song.

<Song 3. Memories carry music, and music carries time>

Track 5 Not a Love (With Kim Kwang-Suk) / Lyrics by Ryoo Geun, Song by Kimg Kwang-Suk, Arranged by Ryu Jae-Hyun

‘Let us not return to this world as lovers. Forget unsaid words. Love that hurt too much, is not love.’

It is a song that make Vibe 6th album more mature. It is not a remake of the famous ‘Not a Love’ by late Kim Kwang-Suk, but rather a collaboration with him and Vibe. While reserved, Yoon Min-Soo’s voice harmonizes with Kim Kwang-Suk’s voice. They sound as if they are together.

Meanwhile, Vibe’s new song ‘Haeundae’ is getting great responses by topping various online charts.

The Golden Age of Villians – Baek Jin-Hee, Uhm Tae-Gu, Park Sung-Woong

Villians take an essential part in any story.

They catch the eyes of the public with their every move. Before, they were often hated by the audience, but now ratings go up as villains become more evil, and audience gather to the theater. It's the golden age of the villains indeed.

MBC Drama <Empress Ki> 'Danashiri' - Baek Jin-Hee

Just by her appearance, she looks like a naive girl. However, through <Empress Ki>, she's showing her unique character as a villain. 'Danashiri' is a character that does not receive any love. She's married, but because she's not loved by the king, she shows her wicked side to Ki Seung-Nyang (Ha Ji-Won). She does everything she can to get in the way of Ki Seung-Nyang.

In the beginning, she is said to have felt awkward to play the character 'Danashiri.' She checked the feedbacks of the viewers to find ways to improve her character. Especially since she had to act with strong characters such as Ha Ji-Won and Kim Seo-Hyung, it must have been tough for her. However, she is showing a perfect 'Danashiri,' getting more wicked as time passes.

KBS Drama <Inspiring Generation> 'Dokku' - Uhm Tae-Gu

Played by the new star Uhm Tae-Gu, 'Dokku' is a vicious character who acts out his submission while hiding his ambitions. But once the viewers realize that his misdeeds are originated from his unfortunate birth and strong will to survive, they feel a strange compassion. Especially, with his natural dialects and variety of expressions, he is rising as a scene-stealer. While he acts as a friendly character using realistic dialects, his other side makes people shudder. Moreover, for his ambition, he betrays his gang and vows to be faithful to Shinichi (Jo Dong-Hyuk). While submitting to strong powers, his character of 'crazy dog' brings suspense to the story.

Movie <Tabloid Truth> 'Cha Seong-Ju' - Park Sung-Woong

With his character of 'Lee Jung-Gu' in the movie <New World>, Park Sung-Woong left a strong impression with his charismatic acting. For his new movie <Tabloid Truth>, he transformed into 'Cha Seong-Ju,' a cold and rational villain. He believes that the worlds spins on with 99% of manipulation, and never gets shaken in any situation. By threatening 'Woo-Gon' (Kim Kang-Woo) who tries to dig up the real truth of tabloids, cold-headed 'Cha Seong-Ju' brings suspense to the movie. Park Sung-Woong said, "While Lee Jung-Gu solved everything behind-the-scenes in <New World>, Cha Seong-Ju does everything himself. With his strong character that never smiles, I tried to add suspense to the movie." He declared that he would be willing to play even more wicked character.

Sweet Finger Foods from Lee Young-Ae’s ‘Banquet’

‘Date dumpling’ and ‘Yakbab (flavored rice)’ appeared on the feast scene of the Joseon Era in SBS Special, Lee Young-Ae’s ‘Banquet.’

‘Yakbab’  takes a lot of effort. With its glossy looks, it takes much more effort than it seems. First, rice is steamed, but the process is not simple.

The traditional ‘date dumpling’ from the Joseon Era From outside, it looks like a simple date, dried with sun light of fall. However, once you take a bite, it tastes different. It is flavorful, a bit bitter but sweet.

I really~ really like 'Yakbab' and I'm happy that elegant LeeYoung-Ae' introduced.

Please take this, when you come to korea^^

Korea is in a ‘Let It Go’ Craze ! ^^

Did any other animation OST get this much popularity?

Currently the OST of the animation <Frozen> is sweeping Korea. Opened on January 16, <Frozen> rapidly gathered popularity, and has exceed total of 6 million viewers. Especially the OST sang by the character in the movie is getting much love. ‘Let It Go,’ ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman,’ and ‘Love Is and Open Door’ are charting on the music charts. It is quite rare for the OST of a foreign animation to chart on the music charts.

Hyorin’s ‘Let it go’

Davichi’s Lee Hae-Ri’s ‘Let it go’

DIA’s ‘Let it go’

Son Seung-Yeon’s ‘Let it go’

January 2014 – ‘Wind That Blows’ by M.C. The Max topped the Melon Monthly Chart.

In the first month of the year, ‘Wind That Blows’ by M.C. The Max  IU’s ‘Friday’ and Girl’s Day’s ‘Something’ followed, having received much love.

Especially, ‘Wind That Blows’ and ‘Friday’ garnered such popularity from fans without much network promotion, creating an unusual occasion.

First Place. M.C. The Max - ‘Wind That Blows’
Ignoring their 7 years of hiatus, M.C The Max gained great reception. With their comeback, they topped the chart with ‘Wind That Blows.’

Second Place. IU – Friday (Feat. Jang Yi-Jeong of History)
Written by IU, this song is an acoustic pop with swing rhythm

Third Place. Girl’s Day – Something
Girl’s Day returned as mature ladies, and it worked well with the public.

On my thought ‘Wind That Blows’ and ‘Friday’ sound good~~
Girl’s Day – Something looks good~~~;)

Becoming Stars by Swearing! Shim Eun-Kyeong – Dohee – Kim Seul-Gie

Actresses who swear well started to become stars.

Characters that frankly express their feelings without a pinch are receiving much love from the public. SNL Korea’s ‘Kim Seul-Gie,’ Jo Yoon-Jin (Dohee) in ‘Reply 1994,’ and Shim Eun-Kyeong, who showed great swearing in <Miss Granny>. Why did they swear so much?

In <Miss Granny>, Shim Eun-Kyeong played the 70-year-old grandma who became a girl in her 20s. Her character ‘Oh Doo-Ri’ does not swear often, but when she does, she’s tough.

When someone treats her with no respect, when she sees an irrational situation, and when she is agitated, she swears. Her swearing in the movie sometimes sound like simple dialects. While her words are tough, she is a grandma who loves her children at heart.

Dohee of Tiny-G showed her presence as an actress in ‘Reply 1994.’ She captured the hearts of the public with her great acting and swearing as ‘Jo Yoon-Jin.’Her swearing starts with simple phrases such as “Do you want to die?” and goes to threatening swearwords that compare body parts to foods. However, she only says such things to men, and never uses them on those who are weaker than her. Her group Tiny-G was relatively unknown before her popularity with ‘Replay 1994,’ but she promoted her group as well as herself through her swearing. It is said that her fans ask her to insult them when they meet her.

SNL Korea’s ‘Kim Seul-Gie’ has created the formula of ‘Swearing = Popularity.’ After getting attention with her cute looks, she showed her realistic swearing in the segments, capturing the viewers’ hearts. Many of her swears were blipped in the broadcasting.
She usually swore to politicians and leaders who have much influence on politics and economy. Perhaps the public sought comfort through her words. Sadly, she has left SNL Korea, so we can only see her swearing elsewhere. It is suspected that she left SNL Korea to prevent her from establishing only a single character. Let’s see what other characters she can present.

‘You Came from Joseon’ – Kim Soo-Hyun’s Fine Figure in Hanbok

Can an actor in his 20s suit hanbok (Korean traditional clothes) this well?

You Came from the Stars

Kim Soo-Hyun, with his balanced shape, wears any kinds of clothing flawlessly. Especially when he wears hanbok in a drama, ratings rise up, and it catches the eyes of the public; he shows a great figure in hanbok.

The hanbok Kim Soo-Hyun wore in <Moon Embracing the Sun> is handmade, which took over a month just for the stitching process. Since he has a smaller face, a special crown was designed for him.
